This dance was originally choreographed by Ruth Elias as “Johnny O” with 42 counts and her dance was done to Johnny O by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and to Badly Bent by the Tractors.
In 1991 someone added two counts to the right vine making it 6 counts, and 2 counts to the left vine also making it 6 counts and called the resulting 46 count dance “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”.
This 46 count version of her dance is the one commonly done in Georgia and Alabama to the song Boot Scootin’ Boogie by Brooks and Dunn.
