Love the dance and the music! I plan to teach it in my AB classes. And, my condolences of the passing of Nicki Kaukonen.

Thank you, so much, Stayin Alive. We had a great tribute to Nicki last evening. She was a great line dance instructor, as well as a great person. I'm so happy that you like the dance. I'm not trying to be famous at my age of 79. Just trying to have fun in my later years, and helping other to have fun! Thanks so much for your comments!

Your dances certainly help a lot of people have fun and I applaud you for creating some of the best AB dances around. Thanks for another great one!

Thank you, so much, Stayin Alive! I certainly appreciate your comments and to know that my dances are bringing joy to others! I teach different levels of dance, and some of the Improver/Intermediate dancers come to the AB class because they get to dance a split floor. That is the reason that I try to write an easy AB dance for some of the popular song/dances. Everyone gets to dance at their own level. Where do you teach?

I teach as a volunteer in the LIfestyle Program in a 55+ senior retirement community called The Villages in Florida. We have a very large line dancing community here and often various line dance instructors host choreographers from around the world to provide workshops. A lot of work is put into recruiting choreographers to come here. Advanced level line dancers primarily do the recruiting. We've hosted Niels Poulsen (last year), will host Maddison Glover this month, and have invited many others to visit with us and provide terrific workshops.

We also have some wonderful volunteer line dance instructors and I was lucky to find one of the best. I started line dancing in 2016 and then my mentor/line dance instructor fell ill and needed help with her classes. I volunteered to help her co-teach her classes and before too long, I was hooked and started my own line dance clubs. I teach AB-level and Beginner-level line dancing and have been using many of your line dances for years. So many choreographers and line dance instructors have moved away from AB line dances. There's a certain degree of snobbery that some have about AB line dancing--the "looking down on others to make oneself feel better" effect I find that sad. I like dancing some of the higher level line dances but nothing brings me more pleasure than to see the light of discovery in a new line dancers eyes--that they can do this and it is fun.

n my previous life, I was a teacher and I guess old habits die hard, lol. I know I would enjoy your classes and I appreciate your love of AB line dancing.

I know where the Villages is located. I'm in Sun City Center and I teach a huge AB class on Tuesday nights each week and then I have a class in Ruskin on Wednesdays, an AB class and a higher level class that follows. You have to be a Sun City resident to come to the Tuesday night class, but I welcome everyone to Ruskin, and it is a free class. Donations are accepted to help cover the cost of hall rental and insurance. I have a great group there, usually around 40 dancers every week. It is the only free class around here where everyone is welcome.

In my previous life, I was a Registered Nurse, and I continue to keep my license. At 79, I'm too old to practice, but just can't give it up!

I know the feeling of snobbery toward AB dances, but line dancing will die without new blood! I have brand new dancers every week come to my classes. When they see that they can do the dance, they are thrilled. That's why I only write AB dances. We have to make it easy for newbies who really want to learn. I have taught line dancing for 23 years. The AB class is my favorite class to teach. I smile when new dancers continue coming to class every week. They are so proud of themselves when they can dance.
I've enjoyed chatting with you and I love your feedback. Like I said before, I know that some of my dances could use a restart, but I try and make it really easy. They are not experienced enough to hear that the music changes. They are too busy singing to the song. lol

If you are celebrating the life of Toby Keith, I found one of his songs that you can dance Honky Tonk Hubby AB and it works with needing a restart. The name of the song is
Who's Your Daddy by Toby Keith. Try it! It's nice!

Dee. February 8, 2024
Without needing a restart!

Stayin Alive February 8, 2024
Dee, I love Who's Your Daddy--I think I'll use it in my Saturday class. Thanks for the suggestion.

It works great and would be a nice tribute to Toby Keith! You are so welcome! Happy dancing!
